Clover Poetry Series: Mexico in My Eyes

Clover Poetry Series: Mexico in My Eyes

I live in Mexico and my country has been struck by two powerful earthquakes. My city wasn't affected but seeing my people die and weep really hurts me. I wrote this in my frustration, and a lot of people don't know what is happening.  If my poem could make people know what we're going through, it will mean a lot to me.

I opened my eyes,
Flashbacks
Reeling
They clouded my sight
Water rattled
Around me
Revolved me
With the violence
Of a cyclone
Red shreds of flowers
Fall to the waves
Redolent
With tears they stir
Below
My city sleeps
My city sleeps below me
Water quivers
Breaks in tears
But my city still sleeps.
